A stray dog named Buddy became a local legend for his peculiar habit. Every day, without fail, Buddy would walk up to the local corner shop, gently holding a single, crisp leaf in his mouth.

The townspeople watched in amusement as he presented it to Mr. Jenkins (The Shop Owner), wagging his tail expectantly. Mr.
Jenkins, always too busy to pay much mind, would shoo Buddy away, puzzled by the dog’s actions but never giving it much thought.
It wasn’t until a chance conversation with a customer that Mr. Jenkins discovered the heartwarming reason behind Buddy’s daily offerings.
Buddy visited the shop
One day, when Buddy entered Mr. Jenkins’s shop, a customer who was just at the check-out, paying for his groceries, laughed at the sight of the dog carrying a leaf in its mouth.

He mumbled something and then turned back to Mr. Jenkins to pay, but the shop owner was staring at him with wide eyes. “What did you just say?”
he asked the customer.
He was probably hungry!
The customer replied that he had heard this dog visited other shops in the neighborhood as well, and people were saying it was trying to trade the leaf for some food.

Sadly, none of the shop owners ever gave it anything to eat since business wasn’t going well lately, and the dog always left hungry.
The truth was much more shocking
This got Mr. Jenkins thinking, and he decided to learn more about this dog. Up until now, he hadn’t really thought anything at all about it, but now, he was determined to find out its story.

And by doing so, he would discover a shocking truth.
Why was Buddy bringing a leaf to shops in town? What did he want, and where did he come from? And what would Mr. Jenkins do upon discovering the truth?
Mr. Jenkins felt guilty
Mr. Jenkins had already shooed Buddy away when the customer told him all of this, and he kind of regretted it.

He realized that he had been so caught up in his work that he never really thought about what this poor dog wanted.
He assumed that it was indeed hungry and looking for some food, as the customer had said. But soon, he would find out what was really going on.
Picking out some food
After the customer paid and left the shop, Mr. Jenkins found himself in front of the shelves with animal food.

He picked out some cans of dog food and a couple of cookies and placed them behind the counter. When Buddy came tomorrow, he would give him some food!
He felt quite guilty for not having thought of this before, but better late than never, he told himself.
Luckily, the dog returned
The next day, Mr. Jenkins opened his shop and greeted all the customers with his usual happy smiles and loud hellos.

It was a very busy day, and he had kind of forgotten about Buddy in all the chaos. However, his ears immediately pointed when he heard someone say, “
Ah, there he is again. Hi, Buddy!”
Buddy carefully entered the shop
Mr. Jenkins glanced at the entrance door of his shop, and he was glad to see Buddy had returned. The dog slowly entered the shop, keeping its head down low, just above the ground.

As usual, it was carrying a leaf. A little girl ran to it and petted it before her mom pulled her away and told her, “
As soon as we get home, you’ll wash those dirty hands!”
He wasn’t sent away now!
Some of Mr. Jenkins’ usual customers happened to be in the shop, and they knew that he always shooed the dog away. So, they gently whispered, “

You better leave before the boss sees you, Buddy!” This time, however, Mr. Jenkins’ reaction surprised them. “No, that’s okay!
Let him in, please,” he said with a big smile.
Mr. Jenkins scared him
The customers hadn’t expected this, and they moved out of Buddy’s way to let him enter the shop further.

Mr Jenkins had been standing behind the counter, but he had made his way to Buddy. As soon as the dog saw him, it stopped and turned around – it was used to Mr.
Jenkins sending it away whenever he approached it. This time, his intentions were different, though.
He gave Buddy the food
As soon as Mr. Jenkins saw the dog was turning to leave, he came to a halt and crouched down as he placed the food he had picked out the day before on the floor.

“Here you go, Buddy. You must be hungry,” he said with a gentle voice – very different from the way he usually spoke to the dog – and he stepped back.
Buddy ate gratefully
Buddy approached the food cautiously at first, but then he leaned down and sniffed it. Realizing it was safe, he began to eat, his tail wagging slightly as he gulped down the food.

The shop’s customers, now gathering around, watched Buddy eat with warm smiles. Mr. Jenkins stayed back, hands on his hips, nodding with approval as the stray dog finished his meal.
Mr. Jenkins pet Buddy
After Buddy had licked the floor clean, he sat back on his haunches and looked around, wondering what came next. Mr.

Jenkins approached slowly, crouched down, and extended his hand. Buddy sniffed it cautiously, then allowed Mr. Jenkins to gently stroke his fur. “
Good boy, Buddy,” Mr. Jenkins murmured, giving him a scratch behind the ears. The dog’s tail began to wag again.
Buddy left happy
Satisfied and with a final pat from Mr. Jenkins, Buddy turned to leave the shop. He glanced back once before padding toward the door.

His tail wagged happily as he walked out, looking back once more before heading down the street. The customers smiled at the sight, and Mr.
Jenkins waved him goodbye, feeling content.
Mr. Jenkins watched Buddy
Mr. Jenkins remained at the doorway, his gaze following Buddy as he trotted away down the street. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of fulfillment.

His usual customers were still buzzing with the unexpected change in his attitude toward the dog. He hoped Buddy would be okay, and that whatever he was up to, it was safe and kind.
Wondering where Buddy went
Even after he had waved Buddy off, Mr. Jenkins couldn’t shake the thought of where Buddy might be going.

The dog came by the shop every day, but no one knew where he went after leaving. He hoped to figure out Buddy’s destination someday.
He stepped back into the shop, wiped his hands on his apron, and greeted the next customer.
Buddy returned next day
The following morning, Buddy trotted back into the shop, carrying a new leaf. Mr. Jenkins was ready for him, crouching down and offering him another meal.

Buddy ate gratefully as a couple of customers watched with fond smiles. Mr. Jenkins gave Buddy a pat on the head, and Buddy wagged his tail in appreciation before once again leaving the shop.
A new routine formed
Buddy’s visits became a regular occurrence, like clockwork, every morning at opening time. Mr. Jenkins always had food ready for him, and the customers grew used to seeing Buddy around the shop.

Some of them even chipped in with extra snacks for the dog. Buddy seemed to enjoy the daily attention, wagging his tail as he received pats from the friendly customers.
Mr. Jenkins anticipated Buddy
As the days went by, Mr. Jenkins found himself looking forward to Buddy’s visits. He made it a point to have fresh food set aside for the dog each day.

Every time Buddy entered the shop, Mr. Jenkins would smile and greet him warmly. The customers also seemed to enjoy Buddy’s company, often gathering around to watch him eat with cheerful grins.
Neighbors noticed Buddy
People in the neighborhood began to notice Buddy’s improved appearance. His coat started to shine, and he seemed to be putting on weight.

Passersby commented on how good he looked and even stopped by the shop to share the good news. Mr. Jenkins felt a growing sense of pride, glad to see that his efforts were helping the little dog thrive.
Buddy waited for Mr. Jenkins
One evening, as Mr. Jenkins was closing up, he noticed Buddy sitting quietly by the door, patiently waiting for him.

It was unusual to see Buddy at that time of day. He stood up, locked the door, and looked down at Buddy, who gazed back with eager eyes.
His tail wagged with anticipation as he stood by the shop’s entrance, ready to show him something. Mr.
Jenkins tilted his head in curiosity, intrigued by Buddy’s sudden sense of urgency, and nodded, deciding to follow him.
Mr. Jenkins locked up
Mr. Jenkins quickly secured the shop, double-checking that the door was firmly locked. He glanced back at Buddy, who watched him patiently.

With the shop secure, Mr. Jenkins turned toward Buddy, intrigued by what the dog had in mind. He had never seen the dog so focused before, and his curiosity to find out what was going on grew stronger.
Buddy began to lead
As soon as Mr. Jenkins stepped away from the shop, Buddy started walking. The dog moved steadily, occasionally pausing to ensure that Mr.

Jenkins was following. He’d turn to glance back, then continue forward. Mr. Jenkins followed, his footsteps echoing off the quiet street.
Buddy seemed to know exactly where he was going, moving with purpose through the town.
Mr. Jenkins followed Buddy
Curiosity piqued, Mr. Jenkins kept up with Buddy’s brisk pace, determined to find out where the dog was heading.

He hadn’t planned on a late-night adventure, but Buddy’s urgency drove him to follow along. They passed several houses, and a quiet park, and ventured toward the edge of town.
The dog led the way with unwavering determination, ears perked forward.
Into the forest
Buddy led Mr. Jenkins to the edge of the nearby forest. The sun had almost set, and the woods looked darker and more imposing than usual.

Hesitantly, Mr. Jenkins glanced around before stepping forward, following Buddy into the dense trees.
The dog kept moving ahead, barely slowing down to navigate the path. Mr. Jenkins, however, found himself treading carefully.
The forest grew denser
As Mr. Jenkins ventured deeper into the forest with Buddy, the path became narrower and the trees taller.

The canopy above blocked the remaining light, making the surroundings darker. Branches tangled overhead, and undergrowth thickened along the trail.
Mr. Jenkins navigated carefully, his footsteps echoing softly on the path. Buddy moved ahead confidently, his silhouette barely visible in the dim light.
Buddy navigated confidently
Buddy trotted through the forest with ease, his ears perking as he listened for familiar sounds. The path twisted and turned, but Buddy never wavered.

Mr. Jenkins tried to keep pace, stepping over roots and ducking under low branches. He marveled at the dog’s sense of direction, impressed by how confidently Buddy led the way deeper into the woods.
Mr. Jenkins wondered
With each step deeper into the forest, Mr. Jenkins grew more intrigued. He wondered why Buddy was leading him so far into the woods.

What was this dog trying to show him? The air was cooler, and shadows grew longer as they went further. Despite his curiosity, Mr.
Jenkins felt an inkling of unease creeping up, but he kept moving.
Doubts in Mr. Jenkins
The forest felt vast and eerie, and Mr. Jenkins began to doubt his decision to follow a stray dog. He paused briefly, watching Buddy disappear further into the darkness.

The dog’s unwavering determination, however, spurred him to continue. Mr. Jenkins took a deep breath and pressed on, hoping his trust in Buddy would be rewarded as they ventured further.
Buddy picked up speed
Buddy suddenly whined and began moving faster, weaving through the trees with renewed urgency. His ears perked forward as he darted ahead, his path almost invisible to Mr.

Jenkins in the dim light. The stray’s paws crunched on the dry leaves, the sound echoing through the silent forest. Mr.
Jenkins took a deep breath and hurried his pace to keep up.
Mr. Jenkins kept up
Mr. Jenkins hurried along, trying to match Buddy’s pace. He pushed through bushes and leapt over roots, determined not to lose sight of the dog.

The forest felt darker and more oppressive with each step, but he kept going, his eyes fixed on Buddy’s tail, which was just visible through the underbrush.
He had no idea what awaited them.
Seemingly endless forest
The forest seemed to stretch on forever as Mr. Jenkins and Buddy pressed deeper into it. The sounds of the town faded away, leaving only the rustling leaves and distant birdcalls.

Mr. Jenkins felt a sense of urgency in Buddy’s swift movements and trusted the dog’s instincts. His footsteps quickened as he moved further, determined to find out where Buddy was leading him.
The town’s sounds faded
As they continued deeper into the forest, the town’s faint sounds vanished completely. Only the occasional rustling of leaves and their footsteps broke the silence.

Mr. Jenkins felt a chill, but he followed Buddy’s unwavering path. The further they went, the more curious he became about what could be driving the dog through the forest so late at night.
Mr. Jenkins paused
In the dim forest, Mr. Jenkins suddenly lost sight of Buddy. He stopped, glancing around, his eyes straining to spot the dog in the shadows.

He listened intently, hearing only the gentle breeze and rustling leaves. Feeling a twinge of worry, he waited, turning in place to scan the forest for any sign of movement, hoping to spot Buddy again.
Following barking and whining
Mr. Jenkins paused to listen, straining to hear any familiar sounds. Faint barking and whining pierced the forest’s silence, guiding him toward an old shed nestled among the trees.

He followed the noise through the underbrush, carefully maneuvering around the tangled foliage. The barks grew louder as he approached the shed, its weathered wooden walls standing out in the dark forest.
The shed looked abandoned
The shed looked dilapidated, with missing shingles and weathered planks. The door hung slightly ajar, its rusty hinges barely holding it in place. Mr.

Jenkins stood a few feet away, noticing the overgrown vegetation around the structure. The barking persisted, coming from inside.
He adjusted his grip on the flashlight and cautiously stepped closer, uncertain of what he would find.
Mr. Jenkins approached cautiously
Mr. Jenkins approached the shed with slow, measured steps, his eyes focused on the darkened doorway. The barking was louder now, echoing through the woods and stirring up nervous anticipation.

He carefully sidestepped broken branches and stones, nearing the door with a tentative hand. He glanced over his shoulder before stepping up to the door, listening closely to the sounds within.
He pushed open the door
Taking a deep breath, Mr. Jenkins gently pushed the door open. It creaked on its rusty hinges, and the faint moonlight revealed a dark interior.

He peered inside, straining to see what lay beyond the threshold. The barking continued, echoing off the shed’s walls.
He stepped forward, his flashlight illuminating the cluttered space, searching for Buddy among the shadows.
Mr. Jenkins hesitated inside
Inside the shed, Mr. Jenkins took a moment to let his eyes adjust to the darkness. He was surrounded by shadowy shapes, remnants of old equipment and broken furniture.

His flashlight flickered over the rough wooden walls as he scanned the room, listening for Buddy. The dog’s barking had ceased, leaving an eerie silence in the dimly lit shed.
Cluttered interior
The interior was cluttered, with shadows obscuring the corners. Piles of old tools, broken furniture, and forgotten supplies were stacked haphazardly around the shed.

Mr. Jenkins could see faint outlines of objects through the dim light. He moved the flashlight slowly across the space, trying to make sense of the chaos around him.
His ears strained to pick up any more sounds of Buddy.
The floorboards creaked
Mr. Jenkins stepped further into the shed, the floorboards creaking loudly under his weight. He winced, hoping he wouldn’t startle Buddy, and proceeded more cautiously.

The boards groaned as he moved, his steps echoing in the confined space. He advanced carefully, making his way through the maze of clutter, his flashlight illuminating the narrow path ahead of him.
The air was stale
Dust swirled in the air as Mr. Jenkins moved through the shed, his footsteps stirring up particles that had been settled for years.

He coughed softly, his breath catching on the stale and musty air. The flashlight cast a narrow beam of light that cut through the darkness, revealing cobwebs hanging from the rafters and dust motes drifting lazily in the light.
Buddy’s bark echoed
Buddy’s bark echoed off the walls, guiding Mr. Jenkins further into the shed. He followed the sound, weaving around piles of discarded objects.

The dog’s voice grew louder, encouraging him to keep moving forward. Mr. Jenkins stepped cautiously, trying not to trip on the scattered debris.
His flashlight bounced over the disorganized interior as he searched for the source of the barking.
The shed was dark
The shed was dark, with only Mr. Jenkins’s flashlight cutting through the shadows. He struggled to see clearly, the beam barely reaching the corners.

He paused briefly, scanning the room for Buddy. He could hear faint rustling in the darkness and moved toward it, his hand tightening on the flashlight.
He stepped carefully around the clutter, determined to find Buddy.
Movement in the corner
As Mr. Jenkins’s eyes adjusted to the darkness, he noticed movement in the far corner of the shed. He squinted, trying to make out what was there.

His flashlight revealed a faint outline of Buddy’s tail, wagging steadily. He carefully stepped toward the dog, his heart racing as he got closer, eager to see what had captured Buddy’s attention.
Buddy scratched the tarp
Buddy was scratching at something hidden under old tarps, his nose sniffing frantically at the fabric.

The dog whimpered softly, pawing at the layers of tarp covering the mystery beneath. Mr. Jenkins stepped closer, trying to get a better look at what the dog had uncovered.
The tarps were dusty and tattered, piled in disarray in the corner of the shed.
Curiosity overcame hesitation
Mr. Jenkins approached, his curiosity overcoming his initial hesitation. He crouched down beside Buddy, patting the dog gently before grabbing the edge of the tarp.

He hesitated briefly, but the urgency in Buddy’s movements pushed him to act. Gripping the tarp firmly, he pulled it back with a swift motion, his breath catching as he uncovered the reason Buddy had led him here.
Unveiling the hidden secret
Mr. Jenkins pulled back the tarp, revealing the reason Buddy had led him here. The sight before him took him by surprise.

He stared for a moment, taking in the scene as Buddy whined softly beside him. He glanced back at the dog, feeling a mix of emotions, before quickly turning to address the matter at hand.
Mr. Jenkins called police
Shocked by his discovery, Mr. Jenkins hurriedly called the police. He fumbled with his phone, his fingers trembling as he dialed the number.

Buddy stayed by his side, wagging his tail slightly as Mr. Jenkins relayed what he had found to the dispatcher.
After hanging up, he took a deep breath, knowing he needed to act quickly to secure the scene.
Running back to shop
Mr. Jenkins then ran back to his shop, planning his next steps. He raced through the woods, his breath quick and shallow.

He fumbled with the key as he reached the shop, quickly unlocking the door. Once inside, he paused to gather his thoughts, deciding on what he needed to take with him back to the shed to handle the situation.
Filling a bag
Grabbing a bag, Mr. Jenkins filled it with supplies he thought necessary. He grabbed food, water bottles, and a blanket, stuffing them all in the bag.

He quickly checked the shop once more, ensuring he had everything he needed. Satisfied, he slung the bag over his shoulder and locked up, ready to return to the shed and help Buddy.
Returning to the forest
Returning to the forest, Mr. Jenkins made his way back to the shed. He followed the path he had taken earlier, guided by his flashlight’s narrow beam.

He moved quickly, his heart racing, focused on the journey back. The forest seemed even darker this time, but he pushed forward, driven by the urgency of the task at hand.
Finding the shed
It took time, but Mr. Jenkins found the shed again. He approached it cautiously, his flashlight illuminating the weathered walls.

The shed was quiet, and Mr. Jenkins hesitated at the door, remembering what awaited inside. He took a deep breath, his grip tightening on the flashlight, and pushed the door open, stepping back into the darkness to find Buddy.
Buddy waiting patiently
Buddy was waiting, as if he knew Mr. Jenkins would return. The dog sat by the corner, his ears perking up as the shopkeeper stepped inside. Mr.

Jenkins approached slowly, setting the bag down and pulling out the supplies. He gave Buddy a pat on the head, grateful for the dog’s patience, before starting to lay out the items he had brought.
Laying out supplies
Mr. Jenkins laid out a blanket, dog food, a bowl, and water. He worked quickly, spreading the blanket on the dusty floor of the shed.

He filled the bowl with water and opened a can of dog food, placing it beside Buddy. The dog eagerly approached the food, sniffing it before digging in.
Mr. Jenkins nodded, satisfied with his preparations.
Comforting Buddy
Mr. Jenkins comforted Buddy, who seemed relieved by his return. He knelt beside the dog, gently scratching behind his ears.

Buddy’s tail wagged slowly, his eyes fixed on Mr. Jenkins. The shopkeeper smiled softly, giving Buddy a reassuring pat.
He knew the dog had been waiting patiently for help, and his loyalty had brought Mr. Jenkins to this moment.
Buddy’s discovery revealed
Buddy had led Mr. Jenkins to a litter of abandoned puppies. The tiny creatures lay nestled in the corner, their soft whimpers echoing through the shed.

Mr. Jenkins’s heart ached at the sight. He moved closer, gently touching each puppy to ensure they were okay.
Their eyes barely opened, they squirmed in response to his touch, huddling together for warmth.
Providing warmth
He wrapped the puppies in a blanket, providing warmth. Mr. Jenkins carefully scooped them up and arranged them on the soft fabric.

He covered them gently, ensuring they were snug and safe. Buddy stayed close, his eyes watching Mr. Jenkins’s every move.
The puppies settled into the blanket, their tiny forms huddled together in the comfort of the warmth.
Ensuring their comfort
He then gave the puppies water and food, ensuring their comfort. Mr. Jenkins placed small bowls near them, filling one with water and the other with puppy food.

He used his hands to carefully feed the pups, their tiny tongues lapping at the water eagerly. He wiped their mouths with the edge of the blanket, making sure they were clean and fed.
Animal control arrived
Soon, animal control arrived, called by the police to assist. Two officers carefully approached the shed, carrying crates and other equipment. Mr.

Jenkins greeted them, explaining the situation while Buddy watched from a distance. The officers listened attentively, nodding before stepping inside to assess the puppies.
They inspected the litter gently, noting their condition before preparing to transport them to safety.
Taking puppies to safety
They assessed the situation, preparing to take the puppies to safety. The officers laid out soft towels in the crates, ready to carry the puppies to a safer environment.

They gently transferred the puppies from the blanket into the crates, handling them with care. Mr. Jenkins stood back, watching them work, hoping for the best as the officers finished securing the puppies.
Mr. Jenkins adopted puppy
Mr. Jenkins adopted one of the rescued puppies, forming a bond. At the shelter, he chose a little pup with bright eyes and a playful spirit.

After filling out the paperwork, he took the puppy home. He spent days helping the puppy adjust, ensuring it was comfortable in its new surroundings.
Soon, the puppy settled into its new life, finding joy in Mr. Jenkins’s care.
Finding loving homes
He found loving homes for the other puppies, ensuring their care. He reached out to friends and family, sharing the puppies’ story.

One by one, the puppies found new homes, each welcomed into families eager to provide care. Mr. Jenkins made sure the adopters understood the puppies’ needs and followed up to ensure their continued well-being, delighted with each success.
Buddy remained free
Buddy continued to roam free, still visiting the shops. He became a familiar sight around town, carrying his leaf from one shop to another.

The community grew fond of Buddy, and many residents took turns leaving food and water for him. Mr. Jenkins always welcomed Buddy into his shop, grateful for the dog’s presence and the story that had brought them together.
3 Weeks After Giving Birth To Twins, Mom Felt Sick – When Doctor Sees Ultrasound He Says: “I’m Sorry”
Lily really thought the worst was behind her when she gave birth to her beautiful twin babies. But her supposed pregnancy sickness did not stop after that.

It even got worse. 3 weeks after the birth she decided to go back to the doctor to have another ultrasound made.
And what the doctors discover on that can only make him profusely apologize…
Even more pain
As the days passed by, Lily found herself in even more pain than before. Her whole body ached, she had stabbing pain in her abdomen, and it was hard for her to walk.

She couldn’t even properly care for her babies anymore. That was when she decided to tell her husband.
Going to the hospital
Pradeep was shocked his wife didn’t tell him about her illness sooner. He suggested they’d go to the hospital right away.

And it was a good thing they did because, at the hospital, things only got worse. They kept Lily waiting for so long she physically couldn’t handle it anymore…
Emergency surgery
Finally, after waiting for hours, the doctors conducted an examination, but what they found was shocking.

They immediately scheduled an emergency operation, as they feared for Lily’s life.
But why was Lily so sick all of a sudden? Will they be able to operate successfully? And will Lily make a full recovery?
Ezechiel and Zahra
Lily had just given birth to beautiful twins, a boy named Ezechiel and a girl named Zahra, after a complicated delivery.

Despite the exhaustion and pain, Lily was elated to finally hold her precious little ones in her arms.
She couldn’t wait to take them home and start their new life together as a family.
A rough first week
The first week with their two new additions to the family was rough. They don’t call this the no-sleep week for no reason.

But Lily didn’t even mind. She cared for her children as if nothing else mattered in the world. And they quickly developed a routine that worked for them as a family.
Something wasn’t right
But three weeks after their arrival, Lily suddenly began to feel sick. At first, she thought it was just the typical postpartum fatigue, but as the days went on, she knew something wasn’t quite right.

Her whole body ached, and she felt even worse than when she had birthed the twins.
Very sick
Lily was experiencing severe stomach pains and vomiting, and her husband, Pradeep, insisted they go to the hospital. But Lily was a bit hesitant.

She had two little babies they couldn’t bring with them. And what if she had to stay at the hospital? How would she care for her newborn twins?
Unable to walk
So, Lily said no. She decided she could go on and let her body heal on its own. She figured it was probably just postpartum symptoms. Or so she hoped.

Because as the days passed, she began to feel only worse. It wasn’t until she was unable to walk anymore she thought it was time to go to the hospital.
Calling his parents
Pradeep called his parents, who came to look after the babies for a few hours.

They expected to be back before dinner time, but Lily had pumped enough milk for the twins to be fed, just in case it would take a little longer. But little did they know, Lily wouldn’t be home for a while…
Rushing to the hospital
Lily and her husband drove to the hospital as soon as his parents arrived because Lily was feeling worse by the minute.

Sweat dripped down her forehead as she painfully held her abdomen. She cried out in pain with every bump on the road, which was almost unbearable for her.
Chaos in the waiting room
When they arrived at the hospital, they immediately rushed to the emergency room. But, to their shock, it was very busy.

The room was packed with people, from children to elderly people, and they all had different injuries. So, even with the severity of Lily’s pain, they still had to wait…
Too much pain
Lily quickly sat down at the only empty seat left, and Pradeep checked her in. The receptionist said the wait could be half an hour up to three or even four hours.

But Lily knew she could never make it that long. She was in so much pain, she could barely keep her right mind.
Passing out
After barely holding on for half an hour, Lily couldn’t take it anymore. Slowly she started to slip in and out of consciousness, and before she knew it, she lay passed out on the ground.

Everything after that was a blur to her, but Pradeep remembered it like it was yesterday.
Finally, giving her a room
He watched his wife as her eyes rolled to the back of her head, and she slowly plummeted to the ground.

He immediately called for a doctor, and luckily, they began to take her pain seriously. They put Lily on a stretcher and rolled her to one of the available rooms.
Running after the doctors
Pradeep rushed after the doctors, afraid they would take his wife somewhere he wasn’t allowed to be. But the doctors and nurses saw the panic on Pradeep’s face and calmed him down; they would never take his wife away from him without informing him first.

That reassured Pradeep a little, but he still worried about her well-being.
All sorts of questions
There was a lot of stress and chaos going on in those moments. First, three doctors rushed into the room and asked Pradeep all sorts of questions while they hooked his wife onto various machines.

It was a scary sight, and Pradeep had to try hard to stay focused. Then, finally, Lily regained consciousness again.
Out of it
She slowly lifted her head and looked around her. She was a bit out of it and kept asking for Pradeep even though he was right next to her.

After a few minutes, she was back to normal but still in a lot of pain. She had no idea what had happened but was happy she was finally being helped.
Running tests
The doctors now asked Lily the same questions they asked Pradeep. All seemed to be going well until they discovered Lily had just given birth only three weeks ago.

The doctors immediately told Lily they had to run some tests, and they took vials of her blood to send to the lab.
A dreadful text
Lily and Pradeep kept asking the doctors how long it would take and if they could give a little heads up about what they thought it could be, but none of the doctors gave a clear answer.

After waiting for the test results for hours, Pradeep got a text from his father saying they couldn’t stay any longer.
Not as they had planned
Pradeep’s parents had warned them they couldn’t babysit the twins all day, as they had actually already made plans.

But neither Lily nor Pradeep had thought the wait would be so long at the hospital, and Lily was far from being released.
There was only one solution, Pradeep had to leave Lily behind.
Leaving his wife
Lily told her husband it was alright and that he should go home to care for their children. Pradeep agreed, but he promised his wife he would come back any time she needed him.

They kissed goodbye, and Lily watched her husband walk out of the room. She was left alone in the worst pain she had ever felt.
A long day
Lily lay in her hospital bed, trying to distract herself from the pain. She watched a little Tv and played a game on her phone, but there was still no news about her test results.

A nurse came in telling her she would have to spend the night there, as they wanted to monitor her closely.
Not going home
It was a bit of a shock for Lily to hear she wouldn’t go home for the night. She had never spent a night away from her babies and feared Pradeep wouldn’t know what to do.

She called him immediately after hearing the news, but he assured her he and the twins would be just fine.
Wanting to leave
Lily really wanted to believe her husband, but it just didn’t feel right. She tried to sit up straight, but quickly realized there was no way she would go home on her own.

She was stuck here. She had to accept the fact that she would sleep here, and there was nothing she could do about it.
No sleep
During the night, Lily tried to get some sleep, but doctors kept coming in and out of her room to check on her and on the machines she was hooked to.

The following day, Lily woke up feeling a bit better, but there were still many questions unanswered.
And she missed her husband and children, of course.
bad news
Luckily, Pradeep was already on his way to the hospital. He couldn’t find a babysitter, so he brought Zahra and Ezechiel with him.

At the hospital, Lily was ecstatic to see her family. She held her babies in her arms and finally felt better again.
But that didn’t last long, as the doctors arrived with bad news.
Tension in the air
Four doctors gathered in Lily’s hospital room. They had serious looks on their faces, and Pradeep could feel the tension in the air. “

Lily, we have some serious news,” one doctor began. “We have found something on your ultrasound. We’re so sorry, but we’re not entirely sure what it is.”
Lily was very confused by this.
“I’m sorry,”
“What do you mean, doctor?” she said while frowning. “Can you do something about it?”

“I’m sorry,” he said while looking at the ultrasound. “But we have to operate as soon as possible.”
“Operate?! Pradeep exclaimed. “Why?!”
“We don’t have much time. Do you consent, Lily?”
But Lily didn’t know what to say. Everything was happening so fast.
Feeling panicky
She started to feel panicky as the doctors pushed her to answer faster.

It was a heavy decision to make, as she had no idea why they were operating on her in the first place, but it didn’t seem like the doctors would leave her room without a filled-in consent form.
Agreeing with the operation
Eventually, Lily agreed. She knew the doctors would do the right thing. Or at least, that was what she hoped.

But, to be totally honest, Lily didn’t know anything. The doctors kept her and her family in the dark about everything, and now that she agreed to undergo surgery, without even knowing why, she started to get nervous.
Just enough time for a kiss
As soon as Lily filled in the consent form, the doctors rushed out of her room and prepped an operating room.

They returned and prepared Lily for the operation and told Pradeep to wait in the waiting room. He had just enough time to kiss his wife goodbye before they wheeled her out of the room.
Very nervous
Lily’s nerves only got worse as she stared at the ceiling while being wheeled through the hospital’s halls.

They were going at great speed, and everyone had to step aside in a hurry as they made their way to the operating room.
Suddenly, Lily doubted if she had made the right decision.
Too late
But it was already too late when she decided she didn’t want to go through with the surgery anymore.

She tried to yell for a nurse, but the anesthesia kicked in, and Lily drifted off to sleep. Meanwhile, Pradeep stayed in the waiting room with two crying babies, hoping his wife would come out, alive.
A surreal feeling
He sat in a chair with the twins in his lab. It almost felt surreal; just a few minutes ago, he had kissed his wife, and now she was undergoing surgery for something mysterious inside her body.

His mind raced with worry as he tried to keep his babies content.
Surgery
The first hour of Lily’s surgery was horrible for Pradeep. The twins kept on crying, and he couldn’t keep his mind on them.

He kept drifting off, worrying about his wife. Luckily his mother had time to come to the hospital to help with the children, and oh boy, was it needed.
Inconsolable
It almost seemed like the babies could sense their mother was in danger, as if they sensed her absence.

They were inconsolable, no matter how hard Pradeep tried. He tried giving them a bottle, but they refused.
He tried pulling weird faces at them, but they didn’t care; nothing seemed to work.
His mother to the rescue
Pradeep sighed when he finally saw his mother. He handed her her grandchildren and immediately started pacing around the waiting room.

Sweat dripped down his forehead as all the worst-case scenarios raced through his head. Will she make it out alive?
How could he ever care for the babies on his own?
Alone in the waiting room
He tried to distract himself by helping his mother with the twins. She took one baby, and he took the other, and for a little while, they seemed to settle down.

They were lucky to be the only people in this waiting room, or could that be because of the crying babies?
A doctor emerged
After one and a half hours, a doctor finally emerged from the operating room, but he didn’t look happy. “

Pradeep, the surgery will take a bit longer. Your wife is in stable condition, but there were complications.
We knew the operation would be risky, but we’re doing everything we can to get her healthy again.”
A long wait
Pradeep was lost for words. The doctor spoke to him so casually, like it was the most normal thing in the world. But what could he do about it?

Nothing. All he could do was trust the doctors and hope for the best. So, he silently nodded his head and sat down. This was going to be a long wait.
It was finally over
Finally, after what felt like forever, the doctor came out again. This time, he looked happier. Not extremely happy, but still.

Pradeep knew his wife would be okay. And he was right. Because the doctor told him his wife was out of surgery and recovering.
But Pradeep was met with a strange answer when he asked to see her.
“You can’t see her”
“I’m sorry, but you can’t see her yet. It’s best for you to go home and come back tomorrow or maybe the day after tomorrow so your wife can make a full recovery.”

Pradeep was stunned once more. He waited for hours for his wife to come out of surgery so he could support her, and now the doctor said this?
Not allowing him
This time, he would not let it slide. “I’m sorry, doctor, but I will see my wife. I don’t know why you would suggest such a thing, but I know my wife, and I know she would feel even worse if I didn’t check in on her after such a long surgery.”

But the doctor didn’t allow it.
Ranting
This set off a side of Pradeep he or his mother had never seen before. It was as if he felt like he was losing his wife.

He ranted to the doctor to get him to his wife, but he only made it worse for himself because speaking like that wasn’t accepted in the hospital.
Making a run for it
After Pradeep’s rant, the doctor called for security to escort him out. But Pradeep didn’t go without a fight.

He ran away, leaving his mother and children in the waiting room. But that was the least of his concerns.
All he could think about was his wife and what the doctors were trying to conceal.
The guard was close behind
He ran through the hospital’s halls, desperately looking for his wife. He tried to do it as discreetly as possible at first, but that wasn’t working as the security guard was close behind him.

He had no idea where he was going, but he just knew he couldn’t leave without seeing his wife first.
Her voice
Did they slip up? Was his wife in a coma? Why wouldn’t the doctors want him to see her? He ran through the hospital, calling his wife’s name with the security guards running after him.

Finally, after shouting her name again, he heard her voice. “Pradeep?” It was faint and weak, but Pradeep knew where it came from.
Following her voice
He shouted her name again, and she replied. He did this a few times, following the sound of her voice.

It was like finding a needle in a haystack, but he had done it. He was so close he could almost feel her.
His heart began to race with adrenaline at the thought of seeing his wife again.
Tackled by security
He ran to a room and peeked through the little circle of glass to see if his wife lay inside. And to his surprise, she was.

She looked sleepy but okay. But just as he was about to walk in, the security guard tackled him to the ground. “Let’s go, sir.
You have to leave the premises.”
Going home
Pradeep felt defeated, but he didn’t struggle anymore. He had seen his wife alive and well. He would go home, care for his children and come back tomorrow as soon as they would allow him.

His mother waited for him at the hospital’s entrance, and together they traveled home in silence.
She wouldn’t understand
The car ride was dreadful. Pradeep didn’t say a word, nor did his mother. She looked straight ahead, but Pradeep could feel her judgment.

He wanted to explain why he did what he did, but he knew she would never understand. She was a complicated woman from a strict upbringing.
His mother’s judgment
Once at home, they managed to get the baby’s to sleep, and Pradeep finally had some rest. His mother hadn’t said a word since they traveled home, but Pradeep knew what she was thinking.

She would never forgive her husband for leaving if it were her in that hospital bed.
A plan
She found Pradeep weak, but what other choice did he have? He couldn’t just stay when two security guards watched his every move waiting for him to leave.

But then he suddenly thought of a plan. He would sneak into the hospital as soon as the night shifts started. They hadn’t seen Pradeep yet.
A favor
But he couldn’t take his babies with him during their naptime. They had to stay home. Pradeep sighed.

He had to ask his mother for one more favor, if he liked it or not. He knew she would never make him forget about this day, but he had no other choice.
Babysitting one more time
So, Pradeep begged his mother to babysit for one more night. She refused at first, but after some persuading, she agreed. “

But this is the last time!” she said. Pradeep knew she meant it; she had never cared for being a grandmother.
But she also knew this was the only option if he wanted to see his wife again.
Time to go
Pradeep stayed home until it was 12 at night. That way, he was sure the shifts would’ve changed, and no one would know who he was.

He only hoped the guards had changed as well; otherwise, this could all go wrong in an instant. Then, it was time to go.
Sneaking into the hospital
At midnight, Pradeep drove back to the hospital. The emergency room was packed, as he had hoped. So, he acted as casually as possible and sneaked in through there.

He avoided eye contact at all times and just hoped for the best. He remembered where his wife’s room was, so he knew where to go.
Everything went smoothly
Everything seemed to go smoothly. Almost too smoothly. No one had questioned his presence, and no one had even looked at him.

He hadn’t seen a security guard yet, but he stayed on high alert at all times. He was almost in his wife’s room, and he couldn’t help but feel relieved this would soon be over.
Her room was empty
But when he arrived at the room he had seen her in earlier, he was shocked. She wasn’t there anymore.

Shit, Pradeep thought. Now what? But he wasn’t going to give up. He had come so far. So, he started searching. He peeked inside every room but, at the same time, tried not to arouse suspicion.
Finally together again
Finally, after looking into almost twenty rooms, he saw her. She was asleep, so Pradeep carefully kissed her on her forehead and sat down next to her.

He held Lily’s hand and watched her for a little while until he drifted off to sleep as well. Suddenly, all his worries had gone away, for now.
Not supposed to be there
Pradeep was awoken by a nurse entering the room. She gasped when she saw Pradeep, as she didn’t expect him to be there.

Pradeep looked at his watch and saw it was only five A.M. “Sir, you’re not supposed to be here,” the nurse said.
But Pradeep begged her to let him stay.
Letting him stay
After explaining the situation as well as he could and playing into the young nurse’s innocence, she finally agreed to let him stay.

It was against the rules, but she couldn’t say no after what he had been through. Pradeep was very thankful and would remember this nurse’s act of kindness forever.
She needed the rest
He sat back in his seat again and looked at his wife. She looked peaceful. He hadn’t seen her like this in a long time, and he knew she needed that good night’s rest after taking care of the twins twenty-four-seven after their birth.

He only hoped she would wake up in a few hours, all better.
The doctor returned
Finally, after three hours, the doctor came to Lily’s room. He was shocked to see Pradeep sitting next to her, but not surprised.

His love for his wife was huge, and the doctor had noticed that the moment he spoke to him. So, he finally allowed him to stay with his wife.
Waking up
The doctor came to Lily to give her the test results and to talk to her about the operation. He gently woke her up, and Lily was visibly happy to see Pradeep sitting next to her.

She squeezed his hand and smiled, but that was all she could do. She was still very weak.
Quite the ride
“So, Lily,” the doctor began. “This was quite the ride.” he chuckled and looked at Pradeep. But he didn’t understand why the doctor would laugh in this situation.

“Uhm, alright. So, the operation didn’t go without complications. Your heart stopped two times, so you might feel a bit sore from the defibrillator.”
A mass on her ovaries
Pradeep was shocked to hear this. Why didn’t they tell him this sooner? But the doctor continued. “

The reason for your sickness and fatigue was a big mass on your ovaries.” The doctor paused and looked at Lily. “
I’m sorry to say this, but we had to remove your ovaries in order to save you.”
Removed
Lily started crying. Her ovaries were removed, which meant she would never be pregnant again. She was happy to have two healthy babies, but this was a lot to take in.

“By doing so, we saved your life, and it’s the reason you’re laying in that bed, alive.” Lily nodded. She knew it was the right thing to do.
Very traumatizing
The whole experience was very traumatizing for both of them. Lily made a full recovery, but it wasn’t an easy one.

She had a very hard time accepting she had no ovaries anymore. And her body had a hard time adjusting as well.
But eventually, she expected what had happened.
The end
Pradeep and Lily went on to live a healthy and happy life together. They realized how lucky they had been, with Lily still being alive after something so traumatic.

They never took life for granted anymore and devoted their lives to being the best parents they could be for their two children.
